Rusic Zeljko

The wood-sculptor Zeljko Rusic (*1967, Croatia) uses his work to put human thought in the spotlight. His pieces are designed to bring feelings to the surface, as they center on emotional themes. The chainsaw is his preferred tool; he uses it to shape the wood, bringing chance into the creative process. He sketches as little as possible in advance – his pieces are always one-of-a-kind. The natural characteristics of the materials become meaningful components of his aesthetic expression. Often, expressively posed nude bodies balance on top of the objects. The life-size sculptures uniquely reflect joy, sadness, bliss – all the facets of humanity laid bare.
