Hohmeister Carla

CARLA HOHMEISTER (* 1973 in Bad Ragaz, CH) attended the School of Arts and Crafts in St. Gallen. She then completed a 4-year training course to become a 3D poly-designer. She was trained in stage painting at the Banff Center for the Arts. For Becker Audio Visuals she designed a thematic exterior world.
Her points of view can be objective, based on facts - or subjective, shaped by personal opinions and experiences. The diversity of viewpoints is a strength, but also a challenge, as it can lead to different conclusions. Different points of view and ways of seeing result from spatial movement. The point of view is a way of looking at things, a perspective and a standpoint. Viewed from a distance, the embroidered cross-stitch also transforms into a “digital” image of pixels. A portrait. It plays with proximity and distance. Switches between the analog and the digital. Instead of continuous color transitions as in conventional digital images, these consist of carefully placed individual pixels with a reduced color palette. We assemble it into a picture as if it were a matter of course.
