THOMAS REIFFERSCHEID (*1962 Bochum) studied sculpture at the Alanus School of Art near Bonn. In his artistic work, the artist deals with stone. The anthracite-colored gabbroid formed from liquid magma is one of his preferred materials. When polished, it takes on a deep black appearance. THOMAS REIFFERSCHEID is particularly interested in a sculptural solution that is already inherent in the initial block from which the respective sculpture is to be created. Round shapes are just as much a part of the sculptor's repertoire as steles or reliefs. He lives and works as a freelance artist in Berlin and Cologne.
