About

Geboren 1961 in Basel.

Hohler Christophe

Born 1961 in Basel. Printer's assembler in Switzerland and courses at the School of Decorative Arts in Basel. Subsequently, Hohler studied for five years at the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. The first reading of a painting by Christophe Hohler immediately reveals his preoccupation; the depiction of the body. Christophe Hohler's present paintings testify to his personal development, it is now in the frontality of the painting and in an abbreviation. The abbreviation of painting leaves anatomical reality aside and evokes more nudity than it does. Waiting, meditation, observation, walking, reading ... in this way he relegates the figure in favor of the mere pictorial fact. His aim is now to present a concise painting in which colors and materials almost lead to the obliteration of the subject.
