Nach Abschluss ihres Studiums in Produktdesign studierte Mahssa Askari (*1980) Malerei an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf unter der Leitung von Professor Herbert Brandl, dessen Meisterschülerin sie wurde. Askari geht es darum, die Fläche, das Lichtspiel der Farben im Bild, Erinnerung und Fantasie zu einer Einheit verschmelzen zu lassen. Es handelt sich um Wunsch- oder Phantasielandschaften, die Fenster öffnen, die uns Atmosphäre, Wärme und Licht spüren lassen und in uns Fernweh auslösen. Die Orte der Bilder sind nur angedeutet, nicht klar definiert. Mahssa Askari stellt in nebulöser Unschärfe dem Betrachter Sehnsuchtsorte dem Betrachter zur Disposition, dabei lassen die schwerelos wirkenden Bilder dem Betrachter durchaus Freiraum zu eigener Interpretation.

After completing her studies in product design, Mahssa Askari (* 1980) went to the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Professor Herbert Brandl, whose master student she became. Askari is concerned with merging the surface, the play of light of the colors in the picture, memory and fantasy into one. These are wishful or fantasy landscapes that open windows, that let us feel atmosphere, warmth and light, and that trigger wanderlust in us. The locations of the paintings are only hinted at, not clearly defined. Mahssa Askari presents the viewer with places of longing in a nebulous blur, while the seemingly weightless images leave the viewer room for his own interpretation.
